UK Dependent Visa

If the primary applicant has a valid permit to live in the UK, the immediate family members (spouse & child) can apply for a dependent visa to join or live with the primary applicant in the UK. The principal applicant must be in the UK as a Citizen, Permanent Resident, or on a Work/Student Visa. If the dependent visa application is successful, the validity of their visas will end on the same date as the primary applicant.

Eligibility requirement for UK Dependent Visa

  • Must be in a legal relationship with the primary applicant who is a Citizen, a Permanent Resident, or on a Work/Study visa in the UK.
  • With the primary applicant, your relationship status must be above 2 years.
  • The dependent child should be above 18 years old.
  • Financial documents are mandatory to show the expenses in the UK

Conditions of UK Dependent Visa

  • The dependents shouldn’t depend on public funds. The primary applicant must ensure that he/she has the necessary finance to support you living in the UK.
  • The dependent spouse can work with any employer and in any field.
  • The dependent is also eligible to study.
  • The dependent is not allowed to perform any government service or duties in
    the UK

Document requirement for a UK Dependent Visa

To prove the status of the primary applicant staying in the UK and the dependent’s relationship with the primary applicant, the following documents are needed.

For the sponsor who is living in the UK

  • Invitation & Sponsor letter to the immediate family members.
  • Evidence showing the status in the UK.
  • Certificate of sponsorship.
  • If the primary applicant is a student on a full-time course of 9 months or longer, he/she must show the documents from the university or college.
  • Financial proof to cover the expenses of the immediate family members

For Spouse/Partner

  • A marriage certificate.
  • Bank statements.
  • Employment documents.
  • Medical test report.
  • Income Tax Return.
  • Sponsor’s COS number

For the dependent child

  • Birth certificate

Cost of UK Dependent Visa

If the primary applicant is in the skilled worker visa status in the UK, and the immediate family member are applying outside of the UK:

  • Immigration Health Surcharge (Adult) – £624 per year.
  • Immigration Health Surcharge (Child) – £470 per year.
  • Visa fee (Adult) – £1548.
  • Visa fee (Child) – £1021

Also, the immediate family member must have some money to look after themselves while they are in the UK. They will need:

  • Spouse – £285 per month.
  • Child – £315 per month.
  • Each additional child should have £200 per month

If the primary applicant is the study visa status in the UK, and the immediate family members are applying outside of the UK:

  • Immigration Health Surcharge (Adult) – £624 per year.
  • Immigration Health Surcharge (Child) – £470 per year.
  • Visa fee (Adult & Child) – £490

Also, immediate family members must have some money to look after themselves while they are in the UK. They will need:

  • £845 a month (for up to 9 months) for courses in London.
  • £680 a month (for up to 9 months) for courses outside London
